DEAD SARA

MEET THE BAND - Los Angeles rock band Dead Sara release their self-titled debut album on April 10th on Pocket Kid Records/ Fontana/Universal. Having spent much of last year in the studio, Dead Sara played a series of smoking dates at SxSW (look at these photos from Rusty's on Friday 3/16 and you'll know what we mean) - they have a series of late spring shows (all of which predates their 40+ date coast-to-coast run on the Vans Warped Tour this summer.) It took me all of twenty minutes to completely fall for this amazing group and realize, full well, this could be the best emerging rock band in the country today...

Emily Armstrong

Siouxsie Medley

The 11-track full-length debut set, produced by Noah Shain (Atreyu, As Tall As Lions, Sonny Moore/aka Skrillex), is driven by the dynamic duo of two talented young women, singer Emily Armstrong and guitarist Siouxsie Medley. The band is rounded out by bassist Chris Null and drummer Sean Friday, creating an electrifying rock band whose supercharged music is propelled by Medley's exhilarating, monster guitar riffs and Armstrong's powerful, wailing vocals.

THE BEST PERFORMANCE WE SAW THIS YEAR IN AUSTIN - When we caught the band during a mid-afternoon set in Austin, the LA four-piece pounced on fans like an animal, producing a howling, cathartic, soul-cleansing set ending with Armstrong climbing up a stack before leaping down like some kind of leopard. Truly spellbinding and the type of stuff we aren't used to seeing before 2am anywhere. This left little confusion in my mind that what we were witnessing first hand was history in the making...

Phenomenal band! Thank you for posting this. It is great to hear a real Rock band with killer songwriting chops and an intense delivery. The 3-song Weatherman EP leaves you wanting more, and I for one cannot wait to hear what's next for them! It is beyond refreshing to hear a band with some real emotion behind their songs that you can feel and hooks that immediately get stuck in your head. This isn't polished or "safe," which is why it is going to catch a lot of people's attention.

Keep up the great work on the posts, and thank you once again!

Killer recommendation! Wish I knew about this band last week. I would have loved to see them in Austin! I'll definitely share this around. Haven't been this excited since I first heard Rival Sons

Dead Sara put a hurt on SXSW probably the likes of which hasn't been felt in years. I and others have followed this band since it was just Em and Siouxsie with a revolving door of other players. Now they're a solid foursome and ready for the world. I Just hope the world is ready for them.

To be completely honest, this is the first time I hear about this band. Well, I guess my not-so-rock-band-fan personality has something to do with it. Anyway, I saw the video and I would say that they have that rock band spark! They are very much entertaining and their styles are amazing. This band definitely deserves a spot in the rock music industry.
