Trampled By Turtles
Newport Folk 2011
Photos by Jeremiah Robinson
One of the most winning moments of Newport Folk 52 came on the Quad stage as Duluth's Trampled By Turtles dove headlong into a bluegrass cover of "Where is My Mind?" by the Pixies. The fiddle and banjo filled in the blanks where Kim Deal's vocals would normally be. I looked down to realize I was wearing my green Pixies shirt. (Unbelievable!) Everybody was singing along to this one - everyone was happy as hell. We all had found a new favorite act, hammered home by this key moment in Fort Adams' musical history!
