Music Blog of the Year
The 2010 Boston Music Awards
* with thanks to Billy Claire for the video!
I would be lying if I told you I still wasn't on energy reserves a full day after the 23rd Boston Music Awards. Held at the posh Liberty Hotel - seriously gorgeous five-floor site which afforded planners multiple stages throughout the complex. Many hundreds of New England Enthusiasts were in attendance. (It was the folks you see all the time at shows, those you see about once a month or so, the ones you see twice a year and some that I had never met before. Big-time success - tickets were sold out.)
I was the host of the large Liberty Room stage introducing such guests as: Girlfriends (Rock Artist of the Year), Jenny Dee & The Deelinquents (Female Vocalist of the Year), DOM (Song of the Year for "Living in America,") M-DOT (Hip Hop Artist of the Year), Moe Pope, and Lady Lamb the Beekeeper (Folk Artist of the Year). This alone made the trip worthwhile. Of course hosting onstage meant that I was forced to miss friends in bands playing elsewhere simultaneously. But it's hard to say I missed out on a thing. Ryan's Smashing Life was up for the first ever Boston Music Award for Best Blog. It was great to be nominated but as it turned out - we won! RSL edged out some very stiff competition. This means you Boston Band Crush, Bill Janovitz Part Time Man of Rock, Jump the Turnstyle and The Oedipus Project.
About The Music: Jason Berndt is an amazing and talented singer-songwriter. We first fell in love with his music years ago as a member of The Revival Preachers. In 2010 Berndt is out on his own and has an exciting new CD of high-quality, Rockabilly-tinged Country Rock. Highly Recommended!
