The Points North cover Bob Dylan
Celebrating The Points North

DEBUT - I feel very privileged to share this brand new Bob Dylan cover by one of our favorite acts. Boston's The Points North (RSL Best of 2009 selection) craft careful, beautiful songs with classical instrumentation. And the results, which are often spectacular, are not being lost on deaf ears. Recording on Grinding Tapes - an amazing collective of talent, The band, who are in Australia at this very moment but will soon return to the states for dates more local - including SxSW in March, dropped a crazy good record called, I Saw Across the Sound last year.
Bob Dylan in 1963
ABOUT THE SONG - During one of their many recording sessions for Grinding Tapes House, The Points North recorded an incredible live version of Bob Dylan's 1963 classic, "Girl of the North Country." (Released for the first time on The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan and made truly famous on Nashville Skyline.) For the very first time ever, the song is being made available for your listening pleasure...
Well, if you're travelin' in the north country fair,
Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline,
Remember me to one who lives there.
She once was a true love of mine.
Well, if you go when the snowflakes storm,
When the rivers freeze and summer ends,
Please see if she's wearing a coat so warm,
To keep her from the howlin' winds.
Please see for me if her hair hangs long,
If it rolls and flows all down her breast.
Please see for me if her hair hangs long,
That's the way I remember her best.
I'm a-wonderin' if she remembers me at all.
Many times I've often prayed
In the darkness of my night,
In the brightness of my day.
So if you're travelin' in the north country fair,
Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline,
Remember me to one who lives there.
She once was a true love of mine.
