GRADE: 3.75 of 5.00 - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I have been listening to Great Northern's brand new album (available now!) all year long - since May anyway... The Los Angeles four-piece's release is one of the very best records of the new year and it has kept me coming back for more - time and time again. I am happy (and have been anxious) to relay that this is one of the year's best indie record released in 2007! Run out and pick this one up today.
the new record
Great Northern has a clean, golden sound. It's the sound of promise repeated in our ears as we listen to Great Northern's new full-length album: "Trading Twilight for Daylight." You see it's no longer fashionable to be a fatalist these days but there aren't too many promising indie artists who can pull themselves up by the bootstraps and play the role of hope's harbinger. After listening to this 2007 release on Eenie Meenie records - I'm pretty sure Great Northern are ready to take up the torch for the rest of us.
